The royal Library of Belgium is the general scientific library of the Belgian federal state. For this reason, it covers a broad spectrum of the world knowledge. Beside a world responsibility, that to hold and preserve the whole of the inheritance printed in Belgium or by Belgians, the royal Library of Belgium exerts a national responsibility in a series for fields for which it holds an inheritance of exception. It shelters also a series of research centers specialized (thus Center for American Studies and Files and Museum of the Literature).
