AMJAD ALIKHAN and GIRYA DEVI

A meeting with the classical music of India of North to the sounds of the sarod and the song thumri. Amjad Ali Khan is the uncontested Master of the blooming of a raga on the sound play of the sarod - old lute of Afghan origin. The artist, heir to an uninterrupted line of six generations of players of sarod, combines his talent with the voice of large Girja Devi in a song of love and devotion related to the worship of Krishna. Accompanied with counted and with will tampura, they make hatch the emotional climates so particular to this musical tradition.
