Proclaimed independent in 1830, and a federal state in 1980, Belgium is celebrating some major anniversaries in 2005, and the Centre for Fine Arts is involved in the party! With as a figurehead the lavish “Visionary Belgium ” event reinvented by Harald Szeemann, a series of exhibitions describing the strengths and special features of Belgium : the private side of Magritte as seen through the photographer' s lens,the “Remarkable Visions ” of our marginal artists, a dip into Kinshasa, “the imaginary city ”, and a sumptuous summer exhibition of the main art collections of Flanders.
